Michael ("Mike") Long
NCDIT Agency Chief Information Security Officer

Michael "Mike" Long joined the N.C. Department of Information Technology as the agency’s chief information security officer in April 2025. In this role, he is responsible for strengthening cybersecurity across the department and the state and local agencies it serves.
Long brings more than 15 years of cybersecurity leadership experience spanning the federal government, military, energy, consulting and financial services sectors. His areas of expertise include governance, risk and compliance, incident response and security operations centers – helping to enhance enterprise-wide defenses.
A Raleigh native, Long holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
