Laurie McVey

Human Resources Director

Laurie McVey leads the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s comprehensive Human Resources Division, focusing on recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee relations, workforce development, performance management, benefits administration, and safety and health.

McVey is a career state employee with more than 21 years’ experience in human resources, creating, implementing and managing various core HR functions.

She has worked in a variety of human resources roles in five state agencies. Most recently, she served as a deputy HR director for nine years at the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Throughout her career, McVey has been dedicated to excellent customer service, implementing effective workforce strategies and fostering a positive work environment.
