Keith Briggs
Chief Information Officer
Keith Briggs has served as chief information officer for the N.C. Department of Information Technology since January 2026. His passion is to drive the modernization of state government through innovative services and new channels of delivery.
Briggs joined NCDIT in 2022 and has served as state chief architect and innovation director and the director of Enterprise Architecture and Innovation. He has also been a member of the North Carolina IT Strategy Board since 2020 appointed by the N.C. Senate.
Previously, he served as chief information/chief technology officer for the N.C. Department of Insurance and N.C. Office of State Fire Marshal. His career of more than 30 years also includes technology leadership roles at large, private-sector businesses in finance, manufacturing and healthcare.
Briggs holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a master’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University. He also graduated from the Executive Leadership Program in Securities Industry from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
