A distinguished technology leader with more than two decades of experience in the Research Triangle, Mahajan brings expertise in AI and machine learning as well as a proven track record of driving innovation and large-scale digital transformation.
Before joining the N.C. Department of Information Technology in March 2026, she served as executive strategic advisor at Amazon Web Services for Healthcare Life Sciences.
Prior to AWS, Mahajan led cloud platform enablement, product and service management for Duke University Health System, where her contributions to operational excellence earned her the prestigious CIO Coin of Excellence.
Mahajan’s leadership is defined by a unique blend of technical depth and community stewardship. She is the founder of the AWS Women in Engineering chapter and serves on the board of the Raleigh-based nonprofit Layers of Dignity. Her approach integrates strategic vision with ethical innovation to ensure technology serves the public good.
She holds bachelor's and master’s degrees in computer science and has a robust portfolio of industry certifications, including AI and machine learning, project management and Lean Six Sigma.
