Jonathan Shaw serves as general counsel for the N.C. Department of Information Technology.

He joined the department in 2019 after practicing law at the N.C. Department of Justice for more than a decade. While there, he served as special deputy attorney general for NCDIT and was responsible for drafting and negotiating IT procurement contracts as well as serving as counsel for matters related to human resources.

Shaw also spent six years at the Department of Justice as an assistant attorney general, serving as counsel for the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services on litigation matters involving employee relations law. He also represented the Divisions of Health Service Regulation and State-Operated Healthcare Facilities.

Shaw graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Art degree in political science and a minor in history. He received a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University.
