Information Technology Strategy Board

The Information Technology Strategy Board plays a critical role in defining and planning North Carolina’s enterprise IT technology projects. It also advises on the prioritization of those projects and identifies areas where funding adjustments might be needed. 

The state chief informaiton officer is a member.

N.C. 911 Board

The N.C. 911 Board is responsible for creating an enhanced statewide 911 system. The board  also sets a uniform 911 service charge collected by all telephone and voice communication providers. Revenue from the service charge goes into the 911 Fund, which the N.C. 911 Board manages and distributes funds from.

The state CIO (or the CIO’s designee) serves as chair.

N.C. Geographic Information Coordinating Council

The N.C. Geographic Information Coordinating Council develops policies regarding geographic information, geographic information systems and related technologies. It also advises the governor and the N.C. General Assembly on responsibilities and funding for geographic information management and use.

The state CIO is a non-voting member.

N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority  Advisory Board

The N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority Advisory Board consults with the N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority on the advancement and operation of NC HealthConnex, the state’s designated health information exchange.

The state CIO is an ex-officio member.

N.C. Longitudinal Data System Governance Board

The N.C. Longitudinal Data System Governance Board supports the work of the North Carolina Longitudinal Data System, which coordinates access to cross-sector, longitudinal and linked record-level data that helps data contributors, practitioners and trusted research partners address the state’s most pressing questions via data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement and performance management processes.

The state CIO is a non-voting member.
