Gerald Poplin

Appointed to the Information Technology Strategy Board by N.C. Speaker of the House Tim Moore, Gerald Poplin has served as president of Albemarle-based Uwharrie Technology, Inc., since 2004. The company specializes in IT solutions, website design and hosting, home networking and managed IT services for small- and medium-sized business, education and residential customers.

Poplin served as assistant professor of computer and information science at Pfieffer University for seven years, implementing Cisco and Microsoft curricula. He has taught small business management, real estate and computer and network technology at several North Carolina community colleges for more than 25 years.

He holds numerous technology certifications and is active in real estate as a licensed broker. He has served on county and city economic development commissions and is a member of the American Association of University Professors and the N.C. Computer Instructors Association. 

Poplin holds a doctorate in management information systems from Warren National University, a master's in communications technology from Strayer University and a bachelor's in business administration and economics from Pfeiffer University.
