North Carolina is proud to be home to the largest military presence in the United States. More than 135,000 active servicemembers and an estimated 800,000 military veterans, nearly one-tenth of our population, and their families call our state home.
Governor Roy Cooper is committed to supporting current and past servicemembers and their families and keeping North Carolina the most military and veteran friendly state in the nation. In 2023, Forbes named the state of North Carolina as a top-50 Best Employer for Veterans in the country, the only state government to receive this recognition.
At the N.C. Department of Information Technology, we share this same commitment and understand the unique challenges current and former servicemembers and their families face. NCDIT can be a great fit for many veterans looking to continue their service in a meaningful and tangible way. The skills learned in service translate well to our work to leverage technology in support of a more equitable, prosperous, healthier and educated state.
