Service Alert

Most state services are now operational again after being impacted by the worldwide outage related to Microsoft Windows systems and CrowdStrike.

Most employees are now able to log in to Windows devices (laptop or desktop) and have access to most services they use. Agencies are still assisting employees who had a blue screen and rebooting was not successful for them.

If your computer is stuck on a blue error/recovery screen, follow the below tips to reboot your computer before calling your service desk:

  • Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to fully shut down your computer.
  • Press the power button again to restart your computer and wait for Windows to load to the login screen.
  • If your computer is still loading to the blue error/recovery screen, please repeat this process up to 20 times.
  • If you still have a blue screen after attempting the reboots, call your agency’s service desk, if you have not already.

The issue stemmed from a vendor software bug and was not related to any cybersecurity incident.

NCDIT continues to work closely with state agencies’ technical staff to navigate these issues until we have full restoration of all services and employee access.

Although this matter is not related to a cybersecurity incident, bad actors are already trying to take advantage of this situation. State government employees should be mindful of suspicious or unsolicited emails and requests for information and practice behaviors outlined in employee cybersecurity and privacy training.
