DIT partners with state departments to optimize NC's IT

The Department of Information Technology has been happy to welcome hundreds of IT professionals from several other state government departments to DIT.

The NC General Assembly passed a law in 2015 requiring the Department of Information Technology to manage most of the “enterprise information technology functions” in the executive branch. In this way, legislators were following a nationwide IT consolidation trend. Ohio, Oklahoma, New York, Michigan, Louisiana, Minnesota, Texas, West Virginia and many other states have completed or are working on IT consolidation initiatives.

In North Carolina, the Department of Information Technology is using the General Assembly’s directive as an opportunity to optimize the state’s IT resources, to improve IT procurement and services statewide, and to continue to build DIT as the first and foremost resource for information technology in North Carolina.
