Meet the Privacy Office Staff
Martha Wewer
Martha Wewer is the state's chief privacy officer and oversees the Office of Privacy and Data Protection, which manages the state’s privacy program, ensures transparency in the use of data and provides guidance and support to state agencies seeking to accomplish the important task of protecting the privacy of residents. Previously, Wewer served as the global privacy officer and senior counsel at RTI International for 10 years and prior to that role, as the privacy officer at the State Health Plan for North Carolina for five years. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and holds a law degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, San Diego.
Deborah Olagunju
Deborah is the privacy legal advisor and analyst and supports enterprise risk management through data privacy, governance and compliance initiatives. Her work focuses on strengthening privacy practices and mitigating risk across the state of North Carolina. She currently holds a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she graduated with honors. Additionally, she holds a Certified Information Privacy Professional certification for the United States and the European Union.
Andrew Albright
Andrew is a privacy analyst who works with specialty IT teams to confirm that privacy-by-design principles are integrated with North Carolina data protection and privacy practices. He also plays an important role in ensuring that NCDIT policies provide benchmark guidance to state agencies and are aligned with nationally accepted privacy and security controls. Andrew is further equipped with specialized HIPAA experience and certifications that enhance his knowledge, skills and abilities within the legally complex area of handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
Camille St. Omer
Camille is a privacy analyst working to support enterprise privacy, data protection and AI governance initiatives. She specializes in translating regulatory and risk management frameworks into practical tools that help agencies implement privacy-by-design and responsible AI practices. Her work bridges policy, technology and operations to strengthen public service.
