The NCGIS Conference saw the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s GIS professionals show the many ways that authoritative, accurate and up-to-date geospatial data improves outcomes for those living in North Carolina.

The N.C. Education Datathon saw nine teams of high school and college students use publicly available data to develop solutions to educational disparities.

The N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority launched the North Carolina Stroke Registry, which contains demographic and clinical data on stroke patients in North Carolina. The Stroke Registry will help the Division of Public Health to identify gaps in care, disparities in care and under-resourced areas.

Person County and Forsyth County received the G. Herbert Stout Award for GIS applications that improved efficiency, reduced costs and increased productivity. Thirteen college students also received Stout Awards for outstanding projects using geographic data to analyze or solve a problem.

The State of North Carolina has partnered with SAS and InterSystems to modernize NCDIT's NC HealthConnex.

The N.C. Government Data Analytics Center’s ongoing data programs and projects help to improve health, safety, criminal justice and education.

More than 115 North Carolina hospitals and more than 4,000 ambulatory physician practices have signed on to NC HealthConnex, managed by the North Carolina HIEA.
