The N.C. Department of Information Technology’s cohort of summer interns recently celebrated their time with our department by giving final presentations showcasing their work.
NCDIT hosted 16 interns this summer in a wide variety of roles across the department. Their work focused on business, coding, data and web design and provided them with paid real-world work experience that will help prepare them for future careers.

Joshitha Muthukrishnan is a recent computer science graduate from NC State. She was a Digital Services Intern and part of the Digital Solutions team, responsible for the Digital Commons web publishing platform.
One of the highlights of her time at NCDIT was attending real-time workshops and training sessions and presenting a one-hour session of her own.
"I’ve learned so much, and I’m extremely grateful for this internship,” Muthukrishnan said. “I hope to return to NCDIT as a permanent employee in the future!"

Kyndal Dixon is an Information Technology student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She worked as an Enterprise Applications and Testing Services Intern. Three skills that she was proud of gaining were teamwork, leadership and time management.
Dixon’s advice to future interns: "Take advantage of every opportunity and never underestimate your contributions."

Holiness Mhlanga is a Computer Engineering student at Johnson C. Smith University. She worked with the Business Relationship Management team as a Project Management Support Intern.
"My experience at the NC Department of IT has prepared me to tackle complex challenges with enthusiasm, creativity and technical expertise,” Mhlanga said. “I can confidently say my input was greatly appreciated."

Kenton Moore is a Computer Science student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He worked with Quality Assurance, Department of Adult Correction as a Software Quality Assurance Intern.
"I'm truly grateful for my coworkers,” Moore said. “They consistently embraced my input and offered their support whenever I faced challenges. Their kindness made a significant difference in my experience."

Jeniya Pittman is an Information Technology student at Winston-Salem State University.
She worked with the Inventory and Desktop Support team as a Operations Support Intern imaging and installing laptops for the N.C. Department of Public Safety and the N.C. Department of Adult Corrections.
"This positive environment motivated me to take ownership of my tasks and continuously improve," Pittman said.
NCDIT also provides interns many learning resources to enhance their knowledge and skills. The most popular ones include the Project Management Bootcamp, Lean Six Sigma Training and other courses from LinkedIn Learning.
