Cybersecurity Awareness Month, NCDIT's mission is to keep North Carolina's data and systems safe from cyberthreats. NCDIT

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Be an Agent of Cybersecurity

We’re all agents of cybersecurity, protecting North Carolina together. Whether reporting a suspicious email or keeping your devices up to date, we all help keep the state’s networks and data safe.

This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take these steps to protect North Carolina from cyberthreats.

  • Follow NCDIT on Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn for cybersecurity tips and resources throughout October. Topics will include phishing and social engineering, AI safety, data security and passwords, and incident reporting.
  • Discover simple ways to stay safe online at it.nc.gov/CyberSecureNC.
As you carry out your mission, the N.C. Department of Information Technology works with local, state, and federal partners to safeguard North Carolina’s government IT systems and data.

Cyberattacks are becoming more sophisticated, often using AI, and are increasingly targeting critical infrastructure, such as utilities, energy, transportation, and emergency response.

To meet this challenge, NCDIT is making a transformative shift to a whole-of-state approach to cybersecurity. This includes the state’s largest investment in cybersecurity, a five-year strategic plan, standardized security requirements for cloud solutions, and guidance for responsible AI adoption.

It takes all of us to defend our state’s network and data. NCDIT is building the foundation, and you are the first line of defense. Together, we're keeping North Carolina secure.
