NCDIT, NCDOA Launch Joint Initiative to Streamline State Procurement

The N.C. Department of Information Technology and the N.C. Department of Administration have launched a joint statewide initiative to modernize and simplify North Carolina’s procurement process.

The June announcement follows a survey earlier this year of agencies that identified the need for clearer workflows, better coordination between IT and non‑IT procurement, and more consistent, service‑oriented support.

Immediate Changes for Agencies

Several steps are already in effect:

  • Procurements will no longer be routed back and forth between IT and non‑IT paths.
  • A new joint resource hub – the Procurement Community of Resources and Engagement (PCORE) – will provide templates, FAQs, discussion forums, quarterly town halls, and a centralized SharePoint repository.

Important Improvements Coming

The new initiative focuses on several key reforms designed to improve outcomes for agencies and deliver greater value for taxpayers. Over the coming months, the project teams will:

  • Create a single front door for all procurement requests.
  • Align and simplify terms, conditions, and templates across IT and non‑IT processes.
  • Leverage statewide buying power to deliver savings.
  • Streamline workflows to reduce unnecessary delays and prevent rework.
  • Develop tools for ongoing feedback and continuous improvement.

Any state employee can register to join PCORE and receive updates, resources, and information about upcoming events. Input on additional features and content is being gathered through a statewide survey.
