NCDIT’s Broadband Infrastructure Office has received an Award of Excellence from the Office of the State Auditor for its Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds single audit. The award recognizes entities that meet strict eligibility criteria in preparing financial statement and federal compliance audits.

“Not only did the Office of the State Auditor not have any findings in the single audit, but they also did not list any opportunities for improvement,” said George Collier, deputy director of the Broadband Infrastructure Office. “It was truly a clean audit, and I thank our team for their exceptional work.”

The audit reviewed the team’s processes for the Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) grant program, which utilized Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provided under the American Rescue Plan Act to facilitate deployment of high-speed internet service to unserved areas of North Carolina.

Team members recognized for their outstanding financial management include Susan Miller, Mark Swan, Adora Thayer and Wil Thomas.
