NCDIT Secretary Teena Piccione and Deputy Secretary for AI and Policy I-Sah Hsieh Highlight the State’s AI Efforts to North Carolina Students

N.C. Department of Information Technology Secretary Teena Piccione and Deputy Secretary for AI and Policy I-Sah Hsieh traveled to High Point University on Feb. 6 to meet with students and share about North Carolina’s efforts to advance the trustworthy use of artificial intelligence, along with other NCDIT priorities.

As High Point University’s Data Expert in Residence, Secretary Piccione provided student mentorship and coaching, gave a guest lecture for a strategic management class and joined Deputy Secretary Hsieh for a fireside chat that highlighted the state’s AI efforts, as well as other relevant topics of interest to business students.

Secretary Piccione and Deputy Secretary Hsieh also served as guest lecturers for an MBA class at Campbell University on Feb. 11 focused on emerging future concerns and risks surrounding AI.

Student outreach and investment continue to be a top priority for NCDIT, including an emphasis on offering internships, apprenticeships and early career opportunities throughout the department.
