Training & Awareness Program

The Enterprise Security and Risk Management Office's training and awareness program serves a wide range of needs. It raises general staff awareness and addresses specific topics, such as web application security and business continuity management.

The ongoing training gives all staff appropriate levels of cybersecurity training focused on developing skills in relevant technologies and techniques to improve agencies’ security posture. The variety of materials, from hands-on training to online interactive modules, are reusable for continued training.

ERSMO also provides training through various local events and other state programs, such as the Office of State Human Resources Administrative Assistants training program.

North Carolina makes national training and awareness resources available at little or no cost to state agencies through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.

N.C. Cybersecurity Awareness Symposium

Each October, ESRMO coordinates a program of events as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Supported by a proclamation from North Carolina’s governor, this program offers insightful webpages, newsletters, webinars and other training events.

The annual N.C. Cybersecurity Awareness Symposium offers an opportunity to learn from cyber leaders and subject matter experts in the private, public and academic sectors. Topics range from maximizing cyber spend to protecting data and systems from compromise.
