Shared LDAP

Service Description

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an industry standard for accessing directory services and performing user authentication over a network.

A shared LDAP environment has been deployed as part of the Enterprise Active Directory. This LDAP environment is integrated with NCID and allows NCID users to authenticate through applications using their NCID account and password.

This environment will allow customers to integrate/authenticate their applications against the LDAP directory to reduce administration costs, increase security, avoid data replication, and increase data consistency.

Benefits

  • The Shared LDAP account, password and group membership are synchronized and managed through NCID
  • All NCID accounts are available in the Shared LDAP environment
  • Rapid integration for most applications
  • Built on industry standards and provides a common consistent platform for connectivity
  • Redundant and highly available
  • Customer will see a cost savings due to not having to purchase server hardware, software or licenses to build an application directory
  • Focus is specifically application management not support, upgrade or maintenance of a directory
