Service Description

Structured Cabling Services (SCS) offers customers convenient access to structured cabling installation, design, and project management. Cabling infrastructures provided with this service enable the transport of data, voice, and video over various copper and fiber optic media for government organizations, ranging from typical office/cubicle environments to data centers to interconnection of buildings in campus environments.

SCS provides a comprehensive approach to ensure a high quality, standards-based cabling infrastructure in adherence with the State of North Carolina's STS1000 Telecommunications Wiring Guidelines and TIA/EIA (Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronics Industry Alliance) Telecommunications Building Wiring Standards. Structured Cabling Services consists of a team of BICSI RCDD (Building Industry Consulting Service International, Registered Communications Distribution Designer) professionals dedicated to providing the best solutions and services to fit each customer's unique needs.

Installations are performed by trained service technicians using the latest techniques in design, materials, and installation to ensure the flexibility of the customer's infrastructure to meet changing resource and future technology needs.

Structured Cabling Services staff has placed out for competitive bid and managed over 65 different large customer projects during this same period.

Depending on the size and scope of your cabling needs, projects can fall into the following categories:

CISP - Convenience Inside Plant Projects

  • Utilize fixed unit prices based on type of cables, termination methods, cable media, etc., for projects with typically less than 75 cable unit runs

COSP - Convenience Outside Plant Projects

  • Utilize fixed unit prices based on in-ground or aerial components such as trenching, vibratory plowing, directional drilling and types of cables, termination methods, cable media, etc., for projects not expected to exceed $15,000.00

BISP - Bid Inside Plant Projects

  • Consist of larger inside plant projects, typically over 75 cable unit runs or contain complex cabling solutions for outside plant installations or data centers. After detailed consultations with the customer, these types of projects are individually bid using SCS pre-qualified vendors. Once requirements are documented, securing a custom bid may take as little as 3 weeks, including a detailed walkthrough by up to 12 pre-qualified vendors

BISP - Bid Outside Plant Projects

  • Consist of larger outside plant projects that contain in-ground or aerial components such as trenching, vibratory plowing, directional drilling and types of cables, termination methods, cable media, etc., for projects expected to exceed $15,000.00. After detailed consultations with the customer, these types of projects are individually bid using SCS pre-qualified vendors. Once requirements are documented, securing a custom bid may take as little as 3 weeks, including a detailed walkthrough by up to 7 pre-qualified vendors

Design/Consulting Services

  • Consist of an hourly billable rate of $75.00 per hour, available for RFP and scope of work reviews, creating design specifications, performing project management and inspections, providing expertise in outside plant design, wireless, fiber redundancy, etc.

Invoice Options:

  • Standard invoicing is performed using line item billing on customer phone bill when available
  • Upon customer request, manual billing (separate from phone bill) is available
