Local Area Network (LAN) Service Description LAN Services provides Local Area Network infrastructure within a building or campus environment, which enables data communications among local resources within an organization. These services support the infrastructure components [wired and wireless] and resources required to enable connectivity from end-user computing devices. The service includes equipment, maintenance, configuration, administration, monitoring, and support of the customer premise networking infrastructure. Benefits Reliable Ethernet wired LAN connectivity Compliance with statewide IT Security policies and standards Ownership of the entire infrastructure lifecycle Predictable monthly cost Network assessment and design consultation regarding service options based on business needs Management of structured cabling between end devices and network equipment Customers We provide Local Area Network services to the following entities within the North Carolina government sector. We currently manage more than 200 customer networks and over 500 managed LAN devices statewide. State Agencies Boards and Commissions How Do We Charge? View Billing Rates for This Service Next Steps Send an email to our Service Desk with a completed LAN Services Request form requesting LAN services. A Service Transition team member will contact you to determine the scope and requirements of your request. Upon agreement of scope and cost estimates, Services Support will schedule a time with you to begin implementation. If you would like to learn more about our LAN services, obtain a quote, or get additional information, please open a new ticket in the NCDIT Service Portal. Communications and Status DIT also provides communications through the DIT Customer Communications Hub when Incidents or outages occur that may impact the customer. If you are a customer of applicable Services updated via the DIT Communications Hub, visit the site to view communications and status, and register to receive emailed notifications relative to the Services. To register for Communications Hub emails, click on “Notifications” on the upper left of the Communications Hub screen, then click on “Notification Subscriptions.” The DIT Communications Hub registration and access are restricted to government and educational agencies.
