Service Description

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an industry standard for accessing directory services and performing user authentication over a network.

A shared LDAP environment has been deployed as part of the Enterprise Active Directory. This LDAP environment is integrated with NCID and allows NCID users to authenticate through applications using their NCID account and password.

This environment will allow customers to integrate/authenticate their applications against the LDAP directory to reduce administration costs, increase security, avoid data replication, and increase data consistency.

  • All NCID accounts are available in the Shared LDAP environment

Roles and Responsibilities

Enterprise Active Directory Service Responsibilities

  • All facets of the Shared LDAP environment
  • EADS/NCID Service teams have partnered to manage synchronization from NCID to the Shared LDAP environment
  • Testing synchronization during NCID upgrades, changes or maintenance that could impact service
  • Communicating service information to the customer

Customer Responsibilities

  • Management of the application including installation, configuration and issue resolution
  • Utilization of the NCID website for managing account information, password maintenance and group membership
  • Working with EADS, to test application functionality, during directory upgrades or changes that could impact service
