(Acting) Deputy CIO and Chief Strategy Officer
Sarah Porper serves as an (Acting) Deputy CIO and Chief Strategy Officer for DIT. In this role, Sarah leads the Enterprise Strategies Division, which guides the development of IT strategies that serve the business needs of the State. This Division is responsible for coordinating the development of the State IT Plan, managing the State’s IT portfolio, developing enterprise architectural standards, overseeing the delivery of IT projects, and facilitating business process improvement both at DIT and in other state agencies.
Prior to becoming (Acting) Chief Strategy Officer, Sarah served as the Chief IT Planner for DIT, where she assisted the State CIO in developing enterprise strategies and projects for the State of North Carolina. Sarah previously worked for North Carolina’s Office of State Budget and Management as a Senior Budget Analyst where she was responsible for the oversight of the State’s $750 million IT portfolio, covering both IT projects and IT infrastructure for state agencies. In addition, she has worked with multiple states, including Massachusetts, South Carolina, Maryland and Rhode Island in project management and various analytical roles.
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Wake Forest University, her Master’s in Public Administration from UNC Chapel Hill and her CIO certification from the UNC School of Government.
