Our Aims

Enterprise Strategy collaborates with agencies in small and large, short- and long-term process improvement initiatives by

  • Partnering with leadership and process owners to improve business processes identified as priorities throughout organizations’ strategic planning cycle
  • Identifying opportunities to standardize processes throughout the state to reduce duplication and improve performance
  • Training, coaching and mentoring subject matter experts and leaders in Lean Sigma principles to create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Working with business teams to create and sustain Lean Management Systems to improve overall delivery and meet strategic goals

Our Approach

Enterprise Strategy tailors its approach to agencies' needs but generally follows a DMAIC framework — Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. This Lean Sigma process combines Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma principles.

A process improvement project begins with

  • developing a business case 
  • identifying a supportive sponsor
  • assigning a team of subject-matter experts and process leaders to carry out the project

The diverse, collaborative improvement team must be empowered by the sponsor to make changes. The project team analyzes processes and systematically removes eight kinds of waste that cause DOWNTIME:

  • Defects
  • Overproduction

  • Non-value-added processing
  • Transportation
  • Inventory
  • Motion
  • Employee underutlization
