DIT has been talking about Service Based Costing for a year. What is Service Based Costing? Simply put, Service Based Costing is an ITIL, consumption-based budgeting concept in which an organization calculates the accurate cost of their services and products through the analysis of both past and predicted consumption trends, customer needs, business volumes and required innovation.  This approach not only helps to determine rates, but also helps the organization stick to them.

You’ve all heard that the only thing that remains the same is change.  And for the Transition Team, change is the name of the game. Since last March, we have transitioned 93 people from seven separate agency IT departments to a consolidated NC DIT.  Countless hours of planning and preparation went into the Transition.  Emails were sent, Doughnuts and Discussion sessions were held, official agency plans were created and meetings were had.  Lots and lots of meetings.

For North Carolina’s Department of Information Technology (DIT), 2016 was a year of growth and achievement. According to the Center for Digital Government’s Digital States Survey, North Carolina significantly improved our IT grade, climbing a full letter grade from C+ to B+, which is the highest the state has received to date.
