Innovation Center Receives 2015 NASCIO IT Recognition Award

North Carolina’s Innovation Center (iCenter) was awarded the State CIO Office Special Recognition Award as part of the 2015 National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO) State IT Recognition Awards program. Each year NASCIO honors outstanding information technology achievements in the public sector through its Recognition Awards.

Harvard University names Innovation Center a 2015 "Bright Idea" in Government

The North Carolina Innovation Center (iCenter) was recognized as a 2015 “Bright Idea” by the Ash Center at Harvard University. The Bright Ideas program recognizes creative initiatives that are at the forefront of government innovation. The Innovation Center has become a model for states across the country, with North Carolina leading a National Innovation Community that includes IT leaders from all 50 states.

NC Innovation Center Honored By National Tech Leaders as a 2015 State IT Program of the Year

North Carolina’s Innovation Center (iCenter) was named a State IT Program of the Year 2015 by StateScoop, a national publication that features leaders and innovators in government technology. More than 10,000 members of the IT community across the country voted in the online competition.

Public Sector CIO of the Year by North Carolina Technology Association (2015)

Former state CIO Chris Estes was named Public Sector CIO of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) at its 2015 NC Tech Awards.

2014 National Leadership Award

Former state CIO Chris Estes received the State Leadership Award from StateScoop, a distinction given to public sector leaders who are helping government implement new technologies, strategies, and IT programs.

2014 CIO of the Year

Triangle Business Journal named former state CIO Chris Estes a CIO of the Year for 2014. The CIO Awards recognize exceptional IT leaders who have used information technology in innovative ways to create competitive advantages, optimize business processes and enable growth. Triangle Business Journal is a leading publication covering business news in North Carolina’s 13-county Research Triangle area.

2013 Freedom Award

Previously known as the Office of Information Technology Services (OITS), the agency received the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in recognition of exemplary support of the National Guard and Reserve. The Freedom Award is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. The agency was one of 90 North Carolina employers to be nominated for the award.
