Promote a stronger North Carolina that connects customers, citizens, business, education and government.
The IT professionals at the Department of Information Technology are committed to providing outstanding service to our customers and the North Carolinians they serve. Led by State Chief Information Officer (SCIO) Chris Estes, the department is the leading provider of IT services to state agencies, local governments, and educational institutions across North Carolina.
Our services include hosting, network, telecommunications, desktop computing and unified communications, including email and calendaring. We offer 24/7 support through our ITIL®-trained Service Desk and IT Service Support teams.
The Office of the State CIO provides oversight of state agency IT projects and manages IT procurement, cybersecurity, business relationship strategies, and statewide architecture. The SCIO is also represented on Boards and Commissions including the 911 Board, the NC Geographic Information Coordinating Council (GICC), and the Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN).
Our employees enjoy opportunities to continually explore new technologies and create systems and applications that support critical services to the state, including Health IT (HIT), law enforcement, and emergency management. As part of the Governor's Cabinet, we are actively involved in many of the governor's initiatives. We do this and more -- all while providing meaningful, tangible public service.
